Crystals for Grief and Trauma
Grief is a word mostly associated with death and the loss of someone, but the truth is grief can come in so many other forms. You can grieve the loss of a loved one, yes. But you can also grieve the loss of identity, caused by leaving a relationship, religious group, job or home. You can grieve the loss of safety, autonomy and even the loss of dreams, which usually happens when goals are unfulfilled. Many of these forms of grief can stem from trauma, be it short- or long-term, and should be dealt with.
It is important to understand if what you’re feeling is grief/trauma, and despite what the movies tell you, these feelings can come in forms other than the nine stages of grief. You can be feeling extremely sad, anxious and angry, but you can also be withdrawing from social activities and isolating, having a hard time focusing, feeling physically sick or as if nothing you are experiencing is even real. Acknowledging and understanding these feelings is the first step to healing.
Crystals can be a wonderful tool in your path to healing, and we are here to walk you through the “how to.”
Before going into various crystals and their properties in helping with grief, you must first learn how to use them. Just buying a crystal and tossing it on your purse won’t do anything. After picking your crystal you must cleanse it, charge it and make sure you set intentions. (For an in depth look at each of those steps, check out our Crystal Starter Guide). That will guarantee your crystal can be the best tool possible for your specific healing needs.
Here are some of the best crystals to help with healing grief and trauma:
Helps you grieve the loss of someone, guiding you in coming to terms with the transition of life after loss.
Aids in self-compassion during this time, connecting you to your heart and quieting down thoughts of self-blame and guilt.
A “master-healer,” clear quartz has high vibrations and acts as a deep soul cleanser, absorbing, storing and regulating your energy.
Neutralizes and clears energy, specially around your home, and promotes a positive attitude through difficult times.
Keep these crystals with you in your pocket, purse, wallet, in a necklace, on your bedside table or under your pillow. You can also use them during meditation, yoga practice or rituals.
